Answers to Vodka Questions

Vodka looks like water, but is so much different... So what's in it? Every day people search the internet with questions like, "What is in Vodka?", and "Where Can I find a list with all the ingredients for Vodka?". Well, I decided to help out everyone out there who has vodka questions.

I think the main reason people ask, "what are the ingredients in Vodka?", is because a bottle of vodka never actually lists its ingredients. All it says is something like, 40% alcohol content. So why don't they tell us what's in the other 60% of the bottle?!!! The Food and Drug administration has simply not required alcoholic beverages to label there bottles with ingredients or nutritional facts. Some say this is do to business interests, other say it's just a flaw in the system. I really can't say I know.

But let me tell you what I do know about vodka, and answer some questions...

1.)

Question: What are the ingredients or components of vodka?

Answer: Well to understand what the ingredients of vodka are, its important to understand how its made. Basically a substance such as a grain is fermented, creating alcohol, and then this solution is distilled. Whats left is left is just water and ethanol. So the ingredients that are used to make vodka and the components that are produced in the liquid you drink are actually different. The fermented substances used to make vodka are many. Some of them include potatoes, rye, sugar beet molasses, and wheat. Also, the final ingredients of the vodka may contain impurities other than the water and ethanol (natural and artificial flavors among other things).

2.)

Question: What is a Vodka slime?

Answer: No, you don't need to be a mad scientist to make a vodka slime. A vodka slime is simply a mixed drink which contains vodka. The non alcoholic ingredients are 7 up soda and lime. The drink is usually served in a highball glass over ice.

3.)

What are the best Vodka brands?

Answer: Well its really just up to personal preference. Some Vodkas are very cheap and higher end premium brands are usually considered the "best" Vodka brands.

4.)

Who invented Vodka?

Answer: Vodka's inventor's name is... undiscovered. Know one really knows who invented the alcohol. The drink just started showing up in the 1400's in Eastern Europe.

5.)

Can vodka be used to make jello?

Answer: Vodka cannot be used to make jello. However, people often combine jello and vodka to make "jello shots". Solid jello shots are just like shots of any alcohol form. The only difference is that they have jello as the base and are therefore solid.
